norwegian wood

not too original of a blog title, but the stuff is everywhere: the spiral wood staircase, the floors, the walls, the fuel for the stove. ya. norwegian wood. isn't it good? et god nei?

my travels were easy, breezy and beautiful on the way to my wonderful summer home here in vassenden (norwegian for "end of the lake").

after a scenic and extremely drowsy ten hour bus trip from central oslo, i arrived at the rugged west coast of Norway (Norge), Vassenden, the home of the Jolster river. slept the sleep of the well traveled and woke to a stocked fridge and wood pile for the stove. i am becoming increasingly more proficient at turning norwegian birch trees into a warm living room.
awaiting amos shuman's arrival on 70's scando lounge furniture:

the jolster river is literally just out the back door. the level is still a bit "low" according to the locals, as the melting season hasn't really gotten underway just yet. i went on a scouting tour with my two principal bosses, erik and knut. we raft a 13km section of the river, from the end of the lake down to the local hydro power station, which hosts a quality selection of class III and IV rapids.

amos arrives into forde via his multi stop airplane adventure tomorrow; so the adventures are sure to abound from here on out with a partner in crime. the mini bus, our summer wheels, is still under repair at the local garage; so for now, keep your eyes open for a renegade scooter driver:
